Kitchen Part 2

As opposed to this post.  It is all done.  Unless I come up with some brilliant thing I think I should do to it further, I'm pretty sure I won't though and the thing would have to be completely irresistibly brilliant, not just a good idea because as far as I'm concerned, this project is done and done.

Pigtails and a Pretty Dress

Vidalia really still doesn't have much hair.  I can manage two pigtails out of it that I think are cute and not ridiculous.  I haven't been able to get just one to look so good.  Her hair is really getting thicker, but we're still waiting to see it grow in length and especially to find out is it curly or not so curly.  It still appears  that it could go either way.

I first saw this dress in a Shopko for $50 around Eastertime.  I had to wonder who really spends $50 on a dress for a 1 year-old, but at the same time I kind of wished I was one of those people.  Alas, I am not and I did not buy this dress for her then.  A while later (after Easter) I went to a Target where this same dress was more than half the price to begin with and then it was 70% off, making it cost right around $5.  The problem is that the dress was too small; size 6-9 months.  I decided to buy it anyway, somewhat on the premise that someday I will have more children and hopefully one of them will be a girl to wear this dress.  A few weeks later I decided to try the dress on Vidalia.  It fit!  (Why, I don’t know, since some of her 9-12 month dresses don’t.)  I was so excited, about a dress, yes.  The End.

Gardening

There's something very therapeutic for me about growing plants.  I don't really know a lot about it and I don't think I have a particularly green thumb, but watching and helping nature take it's course is a beautiful process.  It gives me something to care for and teach Vidalia about without having to worry about something like an animal to care for and plants add beauty to places where only plainness was found before.  I love it.

This year, we planted some flowers.  The management said we could plant things in the ground, but not vegetables or berries.  So, this is our first time ever growing flowers.

We are allowed to plant fruits and vegetable plants in pots, so we bought some hanging pots and planted strawberries.

We also bought a big pot and planted a cherry tomato.

We have some herb pots for inside too.  We planted green onions (bought them from the grocery store and put them in dirt, actually), cilantro (which has been the funnest to watch grow), chives (which don’t seem to want to grow), and pepper plants (Ryan got 2 for free from a conference and I happened to have 2 empty herb pots, that’s how they got their home).

And so that’s how we’re doing our garden this year.

Quaint

The view from our patio.

Ours is the bottom.

I just looked up the definition of the word and realized that quaint is not really what I mean.  Apparently quaint implies old-fashioned or odd or strange, I somehow have been using the word incorrectly my entire life.  I'm kind of sad, since I quite like the word quaint, but that's okay.  I think what I really meant was charming or perhaps moving has brought so much peace into our lives that we have rose-tinted glasses when we look at our new apartment and neighborhood.  Who knows?

Our New Car

I vaguely remember being asked to show pictures of our van.  This is me not being very prompt about doing that.
