On the Way to the Park

One day at the end of April Vidalia and I headed to the park.  (We actually do that most days, but this day was different than the others.)  It was a really hot day, especially for April in Lincoln with temperatures in the 90s.  Literally right before we reached a park, we ran into a swimming party of little girls.  Vidalia was thrilled by the other children and the water.  I had about enough time to grab her and take her pants and shoes off before she was entirely soaked.  I was a little apprehensive at first, but then one of the girls asked me if she could play with them and that put all my reservations at ease.  Later the girls asked me if she could have cookies.  I'm pretty sure that Vidalia thought that was one of the greatest days ever.  I had a lot of fun watching her enjoy herself so much.  That V is a little water baby.

Vidalia's Ballot

For a home evening activity I made a sample ballot to teach about voting and fulfilling civic duty. This is the result of her vote:
I think she voted for A different person for President, neglected to vote for U.S. Senator, and selected someone else for State Legislator. Well done baby.

Some Reasons Why We Love Our New Apartment Complex So Much

Kansas City Temple Open House

We arranged to attend the Kansas City Temple Open House with my good friend Cathryn and her family.  I was maybe a little bit excited about that since it had been over a year since I had seen her and I had never met her baby Luke.  We ordered some barbecue (we were in Kansas City afterall), ate at a park, and then went to the open house.  I wish we were a little bit closer to each other so we could visit sometimes.  That being said, Cathryn, if you're ever driving to Utah, I know a great, free place to stay in Nebraska.  ;)

Vidalia stole Luke’s toys pretty much the whole day.  I think it may in part be because some awesome parents brought toys and some other parents didn’t.

Luke trying out the grass.

I like the way that Luke doesn’t seem to know what to think about V stealing his toys.

You can’t tell, but Vidalia stole another toy of Luke’s.  (Some other parents also forgot a stroller.  We did so great at forgetting things this trip.)

The temple was beautiful.  I loved the olive tree theme incorporated throughout the temple.

I doubled up some slippers to put over Vidalia’s shoes.

Vidalia even ended up stealing the stroller by the end.

Thanks for meeting us there.  It was good to see you.

Visiting Uncle David

Uncle David and Aunt Laurie were so good to have us visit in their already very crowded home.  We got there very late on Friday night.  I forgot Vidalia's pack-n-play, which made our sleeping arrangements just the tiniest bit more interesting.  I don't know if any of them ever look at our blog, but THANK YOU SO MUCH!  We had a blast (for me, meeting people I didn't really know, some for the first time and some for the second).

Typical Ryan.  There's a reason children love him so much.

Part of the 30 seconds she actually wore this head band.

The both lost teeth while we were there.
